Solar Harmonics has had quite a history over the last decade and a half. In 2008, Brentwood’s home expansion was in full swing. Giant 5,000-square-foot, two-story homes with all the bedrooms upstairs, regular 100-degree summers, no shading, and massive electricity bills made Brentwood the first ‘solar heaven.’
Most homeowners had no idea their electricity bills would be so outrageous during the summer months, and with more than half the homes adding swimming pools, solar power was a no-brainer. At the time, owning solar came with a 30% Federal Tax Credit and a 5-8% rebate from PG&E, making it an even smarter investment.
At the same time, solar leasing companies like Solar City, Vivint, and SunPower used high-pressure sales tactics to sell homeowners on the savings of a solar lease versus a PG&E bill. However, most homeowners had no idea they were sacrificing the long-term benefits of owning their solar system by signing 25-year leases.
In starting Solar Harmonics, we paired the high demand for solar with the advantages of ownership through low-interest loans or outright purchases for the fastest breakeven time. Over the years, Solar Harmonics has evolved to steer clear of residential solar leases, high-fee loans, and low-quality equipment. We’ve also avoided high-pressure tactics like door-knocking, telemarketing, and direct mail. Instead, most of our business comes from direct referrals or online recommendations.
